Recep "Richie" Karaburun 

Professor Richie Karaburun is currently serving as a Clinical Assistant Professor of hospitality marketing and tourism at the NYU School of Professional Studies Jonathan M. Tisch Center of Hospitality. He is currently pursuing a DPS (Doctor of Professional Studies) in business with a concentration in marketing at the Lubin School of Business at Pace University. He earned an MBA from the George Argyros School of Business and Economics, Chapman University, in Orange, California, in 2001 and a BBA in international relations from the Uludag University, in Bursa, Turkey, in 1991.

 

With more than 25 years of experience in the travel industry, Karaburun is an industry expert who helps travel companies to develop and implement their business plans and strategies for growth. He has served on numerous industry panel presentations across a number of disciplines - sales leadership, hotel and other supplier negotiations, and travel operations.

Professor Karaburun has taught classes at the NYUSPS Jonathan M. Tisch Center of Hospitality since 2014 and at Fairleigh Dickinson University since 2016. He has been awarded for the Teaching Excellence Award (2018), and Outstanding Service Award (2019), which recognize "the remarkable dedication of those faculty members who have demonstrated profound concern for student growth and development." He served as managing director, North America, of Roomer, an online peer-to-peer marketplace for travel. Prior to joining Roomer, Karaburun was vice president of global supplier relations at RADIUS, president at GTA North America, and vice president of product development and contracting at AmericanTours International, achieving high-value revenue and profits, gaining large-scale cost savings, and improving organizational productivity and performance. Karaburun is member of many prestigious organizations such as AMA (American Marketing Association), ISHC (International Society of Hospitality Consultants), HFTP (Hospitality Financial and Technology Professionals).
